Arrhythmia

Apalah she buating?

May 30, 2008

Which translates to : what is she up to?

I should have an on-site english-malay translator. Somehow, Manglish gets less appreciation these days. It’s time for a comeback!

Currently in the PBL rooms, with notes on the nervous system, heart and gut all sprawled out in front of me and a few photocopied unethical texts. Oh and Rahul’s here too. In case you’re wondering, Rahul is a very special ‘being’ who has entered my life of late. Yes, even Chris finds him threatening for I have slept with him even and there’s nothing he can do about it. Rahul will be with me for as long as I decide to stay in medicine.

Yes, Rahul = my anatomy+physiology textbook. My Marieb.

This is how I make my life seemingly scandalous when all it entails is hours at my desk and lack of social life. Zia named the models in the anatomy room. Yes, we make a name f

The sem 5s got their placings today. Gosh, that’s made me even more nervous. I hope to get through all the  exams without a hitch.

Yesterday, JP, one of the anatomy lecturers came in for our Medical museum sessions or MMS. MMS is basically a date with the anatomy room, the anatomy room that’s full of plastic models, that is, and fermented hands and limbs in formalin-filled displays. And he started asking us questions, good GOD. He freaked all of us out cuz he asked one of the students to name all the parts of the brain and like she swallowed the textbook, she highlighted the main parts of the brain and their constituents.

Then he told her to come up to the front and point out those places she cited on the model of the brain he was holding.

She. . .labelled the cerebelum as the lower half of the cerebrum and somehow couldn’t find the diencephalon and pons, brain stem and medulla.

The point JP was trying to make? You may know your stuff. But it won’t make you a good doctor. And that is why 60 students outta 250 in the previous batch failed their end of semester exams. They fucked up the practical exams and as such, screwed up entirely.

Worst part? That’s like 30% of the batch. And a very capable friend of mine who was a straight A scorer in A-levels failed too.

Now that is freakin’ scary.

The moment I found out, I texted mum with quivering fingers and walked out of the MMS room, my knees all weak. The panic that set in was immense - I HAVE TO SWALLOW MY BOOKS and know where everything is!

So with that realisation upon me, here I am, in the pbl room, reading notes and embarking to the anatomy room in a bit.

Toodles.

PS - hearing the song "ei-yo technology" by Jt and 50-cent reminded me of Tricia gurl and how much she likes that song =P I miss you babe. Oh and the rest at PMC too. I miss PMC and Penang period. Can’t wait for the hols when I get to go off to do my COP. Batu Ferringhi, here I come!!! Again!!! =P
