Your - weekly? - Ashyville Updates

May 17, 2008

It HAS been a while, hasn’t it?  =D What are my excuses this time around?

  1. Medschool
  2. Medschool
  3. Sleep Medschool

-_-

I have not left the house at ALL this week. After uni, back home I go. And as a result, I’ve saved 80 bucks of my 100 ringgit allowance!  Where did 20 ringgit go? On IMU’s ridiculously new parking rates which are seriously fucked up -_-

It’s 2 frickin’ bucks for the first hour and an hour after that! I spend 8am to 1pm at uni and I get charged A FRACKIN’ 6 BUCKS FEE! And oh yes, we supposedly get this new car park that’s free - oh how kind - but it’s all the way PAST Vista C and takes eons to walk from there to uni -_-  For someone who is perpetually late to uni every single damn day, that does NOT work for me. Nope.

I might as well park at home and just WALK to uni every day -_-

Alright, rant aside, what ELSE has been happening in good ole Ashyville, eh?

I’ve been trying my utter best to keep up with lectures, yes. I am no longer a Backbencher, but slowly making a transition to a Middleton and eventually, a Frontier. Baby steps Ash, baby steps.

The only chilling-out/lepak activity this week has been the ISOW welcoming party. Ash has also been pretty sick this whole week. Tho she somewhat recovered from the flu last week, she gets a high fever from her sister this week and then later has a mild case of food poisoning due to extremely old root beer from A&W -_- What was she doing there? Ahh. . .story number 2 beckons ;)

In the past two weeks, two good things have happened in terms of the money-making/career front:

  1. I got a part-time job at youthmalaysia.com as an article-contributor/writer. Get paid 10-50 bucks per article, depends on how much work has gone into the matter. This may not seem like much considering that it’s not often I get an article to write about but the mere fact that I get to WRITE and get PAID itself is sheer joy for me =D Like I said before, baby steps.
  2. My aunt who works as a reporter for Utusan Melayu managed to hook me up with someone who works for Malaysian Today (http://malaysiantoday.com.my) and I met with the journalist on Thursday night with a last-minute lame attempt at a resume and my articles in the news ( I have stuff in the Star, NST, Sun and Utusan) to somewhat sell myself as an aspiring part-time journalist, full-time med student. The fact that I’m from IMU carried some weight - they need someone from a university who’d be able to provide more insight into writing articles on youth and lifestyle. The journalist, Kiru, she seemed promising. I’m keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

Apart from that, tho I am crawling on the studying front, SOME info on the kidneys and urinary tract and oral cavity seems to have gone in. Not much but it’s a start. You can stop laughing now, Iron Man.

Also, my mother seems to be more open on areas regarding the love-life - she and Emperor Insanity now exchange lovely emails and even use endearing terms. I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing =P

And OH! 31 days till Jakun gets back to KL! *jumps up and down excitedly* Then again, my first summative is on the 20th of June, so I won’t be hanging with her till it’s over, so make that, 31+4 days =D

Also, I’ve decided to paint my room interesting shades of blues and greens and perhaps, one wall purple. I need more colour in my life - yes, do NOT raise your eyebrow at me, you judgemental buffoons.

Aaaaaaaand, my COP is going to be done in PENANG!!! =D Yes! It’s gonna be like homecoming! If there’s one state in Malaysia that I love to bits, its Penang, waaaay more than I love KL. Beach, town, good food, ah BLISS. I love Penang. So we’re probably gonna take a day to do the COP and hang out for the remainder of days =P Batu Feringghi, here we come!!!!

Unfortunately, the PMC crowd would have left by then *cries* I’m gonna miss you guys sooo much but for those living in KL+ Selangor, WE MUST MEET AFTER MY SUMMATIVES! =D

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand, in this blissful period of being antisocial, money-minded and a geek, I’ve managed to come up with a short story too =D

But some kids might not like it on account of it being. . .ah, I’m not gonna spoil it for you lot. Read the next post and tell me whatchu think ;)

Nothing inspiring or thought-provoking I have, all thoughts on people, race, religion and homosexuality to only surface when I feel like writing some deep shit.  Meanwhile:

I need to meet/talk to these few people because I miss them:

  1. Pink Potato Princess
  2. Scandal Woman
  3. Queen Quah
  4. Hajime

Not to say I don’t miss the rest la. Just tak cukup time for all of you =P

Buhbye you lot, be good!

We’re suppose to hang out for don’t-know-how-long-already….hehehe…

Hehehe, I guess it’s been ‘raining’ a lot since we keep issue-ing rainchecks all the time.

But I now you’re pretty busy with med-school too… your blog is a good way to check your schedule and mood…. last week was pretty tense ey?

I’m currently going through my final exams… finishing by this month and early June. And then I am so free (wheee!!), waiting-on-standby-mode-just-for-you! Or actually, when you’re free just let me know, I need a break too…hehe.

Do take care dear, don’t stress up too much k? Lotsa hugs and love to you!
