Confessions of a Gadget Geek Freak II

April 15, 2008

*This post was written earlier in the day but posted now because streamass goes kaput when it pours buckets from the sky

Spent the whole day being plagued by a massive headache. Gave Mr Skinny a lift to the car mechanic in return for all his help regarding my laptops. He’s always helped me with my computer woes and it was only a month ago when he helped me out with Slick. I checked out his super computer at his place yesterday – the dude’s got 1700gb of hard disk space!!! And a wicked LCD screen that’s 33 inches big and man. . .he knows  his stuff alright.

Been going for lectures like a good lil girl tho I was late for today’s one, so decided to just join the second one and read up on the first one in the library. There’s so much to read, I’m dreading the weeks before the exams. It’s going to be stressful and chaotic so I do my reading now itself. I guess we’re given so much time because there’s a lot of self-reading. Tho I wish we had someone grade our MMS questions, that way we’d know where we stand.

Gosh, I’ve barely had time for myself. The weekend was devoted entirely to updating me-self on all things techy =D and I made two trips to the PC fair. On the first day, I got all the small stuff like laptop skins, pen drives, speakers and a laptop pouch – one which everyone asks about now, it’s so cute! – and a laptop cooler as well. But the best was day 2, on the Saturday after.

Dad and I went at 7pm and we scouted around for laptops. But we were pretty much sure that we were gonna go for the Acer one because of it’s value for money regime. Also, an uncle of mine told me not to invest TOO much in technology cuz it’s always changing and you’re likely to change your laptop in a few years.

*hugs new lappie* Not for a looooooooooong time though, that’s for sure!

So we got the laptop *squeals* and headed to the massive booths downstairs, where things were really cheap. We bought this Lexmark printer+scanner+copier for only RM179! And with it came another Lexmark printer because it was the last unit being sold. So anyone needing a new printer? Particularly the kids in uni? IMU ME108?! People! Lexmark printer for RM100! (price negotiable) It’s new, it’s white (looks like an Apple product) and has superb ink quality, still sealed!

I bought two more laptop skins cuz I couldn’t decide which one I liked best and they were selling em for cheaper this time around. Also bought an external disk (with a VAIO casing) and a car mp3 modulator *squeals some more*

What else?

So that night, I was somewhat in a shock from having acquired all my treasures. But the morning after, I locked myself out of my laptop -_- I installed the face recognition software that came with it and forgot to enrol my face -_- so it locked me out.

Oh well, now we know the software works :P

So the next day, I grabbed Thali and Losh and we headed out for lunch and then hunted the customer service centre down. The beauty about studying at IMU is the ease of how I can get to places so easily (with a car of course). The KESAS highway is right next to it so trips to Sunway Pyramid are extremely easy =D

Tho none of that now, I’ve got tonnes of reading to do.

On the same day, I took all the remaining Smallville episodes from Mr Skinny. I’ve yet to watch em but it’s really like a movie, a huge mystery that needs unravelling. Plus, I’ve watched this episode with Bart in it, who turns out to be Flash, from the DC comics. Fantabulous, he’s way faster than Superman, he can run on water using surface tension!

I ended up coming home late that yesterday, thoroughly exhausted.

Most of the weekend was spent celebrating Tamil New Year. I had to keep my mum’s colleague company.

Well I thought I’d just end this post with pictures of my spoils from Day 2 of the PC fair =D

Slick, was a good laptop. But Luthor. . .he’s fantabulous =D

 Last tribute to Slick!

And now I give you, Luthor. . .

There he sits, nestled between the two new Sonic Gear speakers. They match, such irony! =D

The skins I bought . . .

My external 120GB hard disk with the VAIO casing =D

My Lexmark Printer-scanner-copier - it’s WHITE! =D

And here’s Luthor with his new skin!
